Job Title: Payroll Team Lead
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Team Lead to oversee our end-to-end payroll function. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a team of six payroll professionals, ensuring the accuracy and compliance of fortnightly payroll for 4,000–5,000 retail team members, as well as monthly Head Office payroll.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage end-to-end payroll processing using Dayforce and Chris21 software.
2. Ensure timely and accurate submissions to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), including Single Touch Payroll (STP) and other statutory reporting requirements.
3. Oversee superannuation, leave, termination payments, workers' compensation, and employment-related tax obligations.
4. Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and bank, and provide accurate reporting and payroll analysis to key stakeholders.
Requirements:
1. Minimum 3 years' experience managing a payroll team in a high-volume environment, preferably within retail or multi-site operations.
2. Strong understanding of employment legislation, Awards, and Enterprise Agreements.
3. Proven leadership skills with experience in coaching and developing payroll teams.
4. Experience working with payroll and time & attendance systems, preferably Dayforce and Chris21.
5. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for payroll reporting and analysis.
6. Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail under tight deadlines.
7. Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
