Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic Job

GFL Environmental is a leading waste management company making communities cleaner and safer. As a diesel mechanic, you will safely operate, repair and maintain heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment.

This role ensures safe operation allowing our drivers to keep local neighborhoods clean and safe by providing waste removal services to customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely diagnose and repair operational difficulties with heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment
  • Maintain and repair heavy diesel vehicles
  • Complete reports and work orders daily
  • Plan and schedule repairs using maintenance software
  • Assist in reviewing mechanical write-ups and coordinate repair schedules
  • Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with safety regulations
  • Utilize power and hand tools and equipment
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or technical diploma desired
  • Minimum of one year experience as a diesel mechanic
  • Computer literacy and ability to be trained on maintenance software systems
  • Must meet relevant criteria for safety sensitive functions according to Company standards
  • Experience using diagnostic software a plus
  • Demonstrate ability to follow detailed instructions, work independently and maintain accurate records
  • Ability to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job
  • Possess physical ability to perform all aspects of job
