Job Description

Nova for Women and Children is a leading community services organisation that provides interim, transitional and outreach support and crisis accommodation options to women and children across the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie regions who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness or who are escaping family and domestic violence.

This role will provide direct services to children and young people that are trauma informed, family centred and culturally appropriate. The Specialist Worker for Children and Young People will support children, young people and their families to access mainstream and specialist services that will promote improved housing, safety and wellbeing outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology and/or related behavioural sciences;
  • 3-5 years' experience providing high-quality holistic and child centred case management;
  • Working with vulnerable woman and children and maintain strong skills in the assessment of risk and safety;
  • A passion for supporting women and children in our community;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local community services;
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
