We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Instrumentation Engineer to join our team. This role will involve designing and specifying general instrumentation, valves and DCS/PLC based control systems for mining and metals projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing engineering and design support to our projects seamlessly and with high quality. They will also be expected to work closely with the Control Systems & Instrumentation Engineering Group Supervisor to ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior engineer to take on a leadership role and make a significant contribution to our company's success.
Main Responsibilities- Design and specify instrumentation systems for small, medium and large scale mining and metals projects.
- Evaluate and package engineering scope of services for plant control systems, telecommunications and instrumentation packages.
- Prepare study reports, scopes of work, equipment specifications, functional specifications and datasheets.
- Select and specify instrumentation in accordance with equipment datasheets.
- Design and modify panel layouts, schematic wiring and termination diagrams for industrial control systems.
- Develop changeover plans for brownfield control system upgrades.
- Design PLC and Remote IO control systems.
- Design and layout plant control rooms.
- Location and arrangement of DCS and other control cabinets within plants.
- Participate in design and hazard reviews.
- Review supplier documentation to ensure project specifications are satisfied.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience in control system/instrumentation engineering.
- Excellent attitude towards safety and demonstrated ability to comply with safety requirements.
- Demonstrated design and engineering experience in mining, processing plant or oil and gas industries.
- Current knowledge of industry or regulatory standards and study criteria pertinent to instrumentation and control systems engineering ensuring compliance of design work with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external clients.
