Our client, a prominent global financial institution, is seeking to appoint a Financial Controller for a 6-month engagement. This role is critical to the management of financial operations within the organization.

The team plays a vital role in all facets of Legal Entity reporting, which encompasses statutory financial statements, regulatory compliance, internal reporting to management and boards, as well as adherence to local GAAP accounting standards.

The responsibilities of this team include oversight, analysis, and effective communication regarding the legal entities under their purview. Additionally, they manage the external audit process.

Key Contributions:

  • Act as the primary contact for assigned legal entities from a financial perspective.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis related to the assigned entities.
  • Effectively communicate results and issues, both verbally and in writing.
  • Coordinate with internal and external audit teams.
  • Prepare and produce regulatory reports.
  • Support compliance with GST and Income Tax obligations.

Core Responsibilities:

Statutory Financials:

  • Contribute significantly to the annual financial statement preparation for designated entities.
  • Collaborate with and review outputs from the offshore finance team.
  • Participate in centralized audit processes as assigned during year-end audits.

Reporting & Tax:

  • Assist in monthly reporting, ensuring oversight of results for specific legal entities during month-end close, while addressing and resolving any issues.
  • Conduct variance analysis to provide meaningful insights into the financial performance of legal entities.
  • Review and approve specific month-end journal entries.
  • Contribute to quarterly board pack reporting.
  • Generate reporting analysis for various stakeholders, including the board of directors and internal management, to support regulatory reporting.
  • Timely production of regulatory reports for relevant authorities.
  • Monitor liquidity levels and provide reporting on this aspect.

Governance:

  • Maintain necessary process documentation.
  • Oversee payment processes and accounts payable.
  • Engage in ad hoc projects as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualified accountant (CPA/CA).
  • Experience in financial services or banking accounting.
  • Proven track record in producing regulatory reports.
  • Familiarity with GST, FBT, and Income Tax is desirable.
  • Exposure to general ledgers is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated motivation, adaptability, and proactivity.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of articulating key messages effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate across finance and the broader organization.
  • Experience working within a complex global organization.
