**Shark Dive Instructor Role Description**

We are seeking a part-time and casual shark dive instructor to join our team at the SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium.

The primary responsibility of this role is to coordinate and conduct introductory SCUBA sessions for our guests, ensuring they have an unforgettable experience while maintaining high safety standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Running daily operations to deliver consistently high-quality guest experiences
  • Ensuring adherence to all relevant dive industry and company standards
  • Delivering safety briefs, completing in-water skill sessions, and ensuring the safety of guests, staff, and animals
  • General administration, including completion of accurate and up-to-date records for dive logs and customer medical declaration forms
  • Maintaining high levels of cleanliness and hygiene of all diving equipment and associated areas
  • Managing the efficient and seamless transition of divers through the Shark Dive experience

The role requires ability to work regular weekends and public holidays; please note that the roster may vary depending on operational requirements and seasonal demands.

**Required Skills and Qualifications**

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Experience conducting both open water courses and introductory dives, with a minimum hold of an Active Open Water Instructor status (SDI/SSI/PADI or equivalent)
  • BSBWHS211 - Contribute to health and safety of self and others (BSBWHS201 for some RTO providers) or willingness to complete at own expense
  • Current First Aid, CPR & Oxygen Therapy Provider Certificates
  • Hold/or be willing to undergo an Occupational Diver Medical AS2299
  • Equipment maintenance, air filling, and compressor operations are a plus but not essential
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with guests and colleagues
  • Ability to multi-task and have a flexible and adaptable approach along with the ability to meet deadlines and have demonstrated planning, organisational and time management skills
