Piping System Designer


Overview

The company has multiple opportunities for 12-month Fixed Term Mechanical/Piping Designers or Draftspersons across all experience levels on a major shipbuilding program.

Key Responsibilities

Officer Level (Entry Level – TAFE Graduate or less than 2 year experience)

  • Develop skills in creating piping layouts and isometric drawings under supervision.
  • Assist with system integration and spatial coordination in a 3D design environment.
  • Support the team in problem investigations and propose practical solutions.

Intermediate Level (between 2 and 10 years of experience)

  • Produce accurate piping system models, fabrication drawings, and installation details in accordance with engineering and quality standards.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet project requirements for safety, accuracy, and constructability.
  • Collaborate with engineers, production, and other design disciplines to resolve integration challenges.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in the design and integration of piping systems in a 3D CAD environment.

Proven ability to produce fabrication, spool, and installation drawings for mechanical/piping systems.

Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, Siemens NX, REVIT, or similar).

Diploma of Engineering (Technical) or equivalent relevant industry experience.

Strong communication skills to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (e.g., design registers, reporting).
