Job Description
  • This role involves providing effective leadership to the nursing and midwifery professions across the local health district, ensuring the development and implementation of clinical scope of practice for both nurses and midwives.

The Director of Nursing and Midwifery will be responsible for developing and implementing a framework for continuous improvement in the quality of service and practice, safeguarding high standards of care, encouraging excellence in clinical care through promotion of clinical governance and supporting effective patient flow.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan to improve clinical outcomes and quality of care.
  • Lead and manage a team of nursing and midwifery professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement policies and procedures that promote safe and effective patient care.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of clinical services and make recommendations for improvements.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in budgetary, financial and human resource management including strategic/business planning, integration and evaluation skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical, conceptual, problem-solving/negotiation and change management skills.
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills to ensure relationships are built and maintained with relevant staff and groups.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of government regulations/policies, nursing and midwifery issues, objectives/reform agendas, transformational practice development within nursing and midwifery.
Essential Requirements
  • Current Registration as Registered Nurse Division 1 or Registration as a Registered Nurse Division 1 and Registered Midwife with the Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia.
  • Proven experience at a senior nursing/midwifery level and demonstrated record of achievement in management in a large and complex organisation.
  • Appropriate qualifications or equivalent experience in the public health system.

  • A competitive remuneration package within the range of $217,997 to $242,100 per annum.
