About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced underwriter to join our team in Brisbane, QLD. As a Senior Underwriting Professional, you will support the Underwriters in the region with tasks related to underwriting and administration. Your primary responsibility will be to work closely with our Underwriters in activities associated with renewals, maintenance of accounts, and on models and systems. Additionally, you will assist the team in data quality assurance and continuous development of best practice in Business Services.
Key Responsibilities- Underwrite cases under guidance, preparing individual cases for pricing and modeling, liaising with actuaries to deliver technical pricing to underwriters, using modeling systems to aid the underwriting process, conducting research as requested by underwriters.
- Conduct pre-underwriting for renewals, handle endorsements on active business, conduct specific analyses for new business, and follow up on renewals.
- Prepare monthly reports to track key performance indicators and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop an internal network to facilitate the transfer of information and data between functions and departments to service the requirements of underwriters and clients.
- Assist the business group in maintaining and developing their book of business while developing necessary skill sets and defined authority to accept risk in underwriting of a profitable account.
- Understand the strategy and financial targets of Axa XL Insurance and those applicable to the business unit. You will be set appropriate individual targets and goals that support delivery of the business plan.
- Attend internal and external meetings with clients and brokers to discuss underwriting decisions and strategies.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the relevant class of business.
- Ability to perform tasks according to established procedures with some ability to exercise discretion.
- Analytical skills to visualize, gather information, articulate, analyze, and solve complex problems to make key business decisions.
- Strategy and planning skills to make underwriting decisions to fulfill business strategic plans and deliver results. Knowledge of financial targets and levers to deliver on departmental business plans.
- Industry knowledge of the insurance industry and specific product portfolios to positively impact underwriting business.
- Marketing skills to effectively plan for sales and business development, integrating various techniques, tools, and information to support profitable business growth over a defined period.

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, based on experience.
