About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to lead our HV Secondary Systems Design team in Brisbane. As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality designs for substation secondary systems, working closely with our clients to understand their needs and requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct and lead detailed designs and technical reports for substation secondary systems
  • Lead and deliver concept to detailed design of HV substation secondary systems
  • Design and develop secondary systems, including SLDs, substation layouts, equipment/materials lists, clearance checks, and short circuit force calculations
  • Understand and implement critical technical aspects of projects, including integration and implementation of complex systems
  • Mentor and lead a team of engineers and designers
  • Undertake site inspections and associated reporting
  • Manage mid-sized projects or parts of larger projects independently
  • Liaise with clients and contractors on technical issues and problem resolution

Requirements
  • University degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 5-10 years experience in substation secondary systems design
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including effective influencing, motivation, and delegation skills
  • Ability to work well with others to deliver as a team
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Inquisitive nature and desire to grow your career
  • RPEQ (or ability to obtain RPEQ) is essential
  • Knowledge of the transmission and distribution industry, standards, and codes in Australia and/or design experience with Australian electrical utilities
  • Strong electrical design skills, particularly in secondary systems and substations
  • Proficiency in offering solutions to technical challenges
