About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior HV Electrical Secondary Design Engineer to join our team in Brisbane. As a key member of our Power Transmission and Distribution team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering high-voltage substation secondary systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the successful execution of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct, lead, review, and verify detail designs and technical reports for substation secondary systems.
  • Lead and deliver the concept to detailed design of HV substation secondary systems.
  • Design secondary systems, including SLDs, substation layouts, equipment/materials lists, clearance checks, and short circuit force calculations.
  • Understand critical technical aspects of projects, implementation, and integration for complex systems.
  • Mentor, lead, and manage a team of engineers and designers.
  • Undertake site inspections and associated reporting.
  • Ability to manage mid-sized projects or parts of larger projects independently.
  • Liaise with clients and contractors on technical issues and problem resolution.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A university degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 5-10 years of experience in substation secondary systems design.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including effective influencing, motivation, and delegation skills.
  • Ability to work well with others to deliver as a team.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Inquisitive nature and desire to grow your career.
  • RPEQ (or ability to obtain RPEQ) is essential.
