Job Description: As a Principal Policy Officer, you will lead and manage the effective delivery of policy and technical services to the department's reef program. Your responsibilities will include providing leadership, direction, and motivation to a skilled workforce, as well as preparing and providing strategic advice to senior departmental staff.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the effective delivery of policy and technical services to the department's reef program
  • Provide leadership, direction, and motivation to a skilled workforce
  • Prepare and provide strategic advice to senior departmental staff
  • Work across the department to build a collaborative community of practice in support of departmental strategic and operational imperatives
  • Initiate, lead, influence, and maintain high functioning key stakeholder relationships that successfully manages positive expectations, progresses business opportunities, and creates efficiencies

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in successfully leading and supporting teams and program management to achieve organisational goals and objectives
  • High level analytic, conceptual, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively provide authoritative advice to senior and executive management using advanced effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively engage, negotiate, and influence to achieve organisational goals
