About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Golf Course Superintendent to lead our golf course maintenance team and ensure the property is kept in pristine condition all year round.

In this role, you will be responsible for the overall management of golf course maintenance activities, efficient operations, and strategic planning of the golf course, sports field, resort grounds, and gardens.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in turf management, landscaping, irrigation, and equipment maintenance, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the delivery of daily maintenance activities and works programs for turf management, landscaping, irrigation, and equipment maintenance.
  • Lead a dedicated team of 16, facilitating meetings, managing recruitment, staff training, feedback, and performance management.
  • Foster a positive Health, Safety, and Wellbeing (HSW) environment, ensuring the safe operation of equipment and compliance with health, safety, and wellbeing policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to financial management of budgets, labour, cost control, and Capital Expenditure (CapEx).
  • Monitor and manage course conditions, including maintaining the irrigation system and efficient water usage.
  • Ensure machinery and equipment operate efficiently and the servicing schedule is maintained.
  • Support a member and guest-first culture to deliver a high standard of service excellence.
  • Maintain records, develop, and deliver process and procedure improvements.
  • Collaborate with resort departments, suppliers, and contractors to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead by example and practice the RACV values – Innovation, Accountability, Care, and Team.
Requirements
  • Flexibility to work a 7-day roster, including weekends.
  • 5 years' experience as a golf course superintendent within a top 100 Australian golf course.
  • Certificate qualification in turf management or higher/equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • First Aid and OHS certificate, desirable.
  • Solid understanding of golf course industry trends, maintenance, horticulture, landscaping procedures, and techniques, irrigation, and water quality systems, equipment operation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Rainbird decoder, Nimbus, and satellite irrigation systems, beneficial.
  • Competent computer skills, including MS Office applications.
  • People management leadership experience, encouraging teamwork, managing recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Understanding of financial records, planning, budgets, cost control, inventory management, and reporting.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and written, effective listening, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong organisational, time management, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent personal presentation.
