Clinical Leadership Role

Lead a team of healthcare professionals and drive high-quality patient care in a dynamic hospital environment.

This key leadership role will oversee the Anaesthetic and PACU teams, reporting directly to the Perioperative Services Manager. The facility features 12 busy operating theatres, providing a challenging yet rewarding work setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and improve standards of service and practice, addressing areas for improvement.
  • Support accreditation processes and participate in quality and clinical risk management programs.
  • Foster collaboration among interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Promote patient involvement in care planning and decision-making processes.
  • Work within the department as required, supporting caregivers and medical officers to ensure safe, person-centred care.
  • Manage operational aspects of the service, including productivity and utilisation.
  • Promote innovation and improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and experience.
  • Market the service to medical practitioners through consultation with hospital management.
  • Implement and maintain a workforce model that supports quality care and appropriate skill levels.
  • Effectively manage human resources, including on-call, overtime, and rostering practices.
  • Review payroll and personnel data, managing absenteeism and leave entitlements.
  • Develop and implement recruitment, retention, and succession plans to achieve desired skill mix and FTE requirements.

The ideal candidate will be a registered nurse or midwife with advanced clinical skills and contemporary leadership experience in a senior nursing role. They will have a strong commitment to quality improvement, including familiarity with best practice guidelines and clinical risk management, and experience in managing operational targets and performance benchmarks.

A successful applicant will demonstrate sound clinical and ethical judgment, the ability to lead change effectively, and capacity to manage competing priorities. They will foster a positive, service-oriented culture promoting high-quality patient care and strong interdisciplinary teamwork.
