About This Role

As a key member of our hospital team, the Theatre Orderly plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating theatres.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment, where you will be responsible for assisting medical and nursing staff with a range of duties both inside and outside the theatre area.

The successful candidate will be expected to work effectively as part of a team, be self-motivated and physically fit to perform manual handling requirements, punctual and reliable in attendance.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist medical and nursing staff with transportation and positioning of patients, set-up, collection and delivery of theatre equipment, and associated cleaning and ancillary duties.
  • Ensure availability of specific equipment as required, assist with positioning equipment, tourniquets, electro-surgery equipment, monitors, cameras, microscopes, plaster trolleys, insufflators, extra trolleys and hand tables required for scheduled procedures.
  • Prepare beds to receive post-operative patients, changing linen as necessary and applying electric blanket, drip stand and cot sides when appropriate.
Requirements
  • Prior experience working in a hospital environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Self-motivated and physically fit to perform manual handling requirements.
  • Punctual and reliable in attendance.
  • Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English and capable of communicating effectively with people.
