This is a pivotal position within a cybersecurity program, focusing on threat analysis, system security, and incident response. The successful candidate will participate in diverse activities and receive mentorship from experienced professionals.
Key Responsibilities:- Support real-world cyber mission work by analyzing threats, designing secure systems, conducting vulnerability assessments, preparing for incidents, or developing cyber capabilities.
- Apply advanced cyber principles and best practices to enhance government and defense partners' ability to defend against threats, mitigate risks, and build operational resilience.
- Collaborate with technical teams across domains to integrate security into system architectures and mission workflows.
- Contribute to comprehensive assessments of cyber maturity and posture, including alignment with industry frameworks.
- Participate in technical investigations, such as evaluating system vulnerabilities, assessing potential impacts of emerging threats, and supporting the development of actionable mitigation strategies.
The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree (AQF Level 7 or higher) in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field. They should also have early to mid-career experience, including recent graduates with strong foundational skills or those with several years of hands-on cybersecurity experience.
- A working knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals, including secure network architecture, system hardening, identity management, cryptography, and vulnerability management.
- Experience using or familiarity with cybersecurity tools and frameworks, such as SIEM platforms, endpoint detection and response, penetration testing tools, or threat modeling methodologies.
- A strong understanding of Australian Government cybersecurity policies and guidance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive mindset for identifying risks and securing systems.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
