The Office of the Public Advocate is an independent statutory office accountable to the Victorian Parliament. We protect the rights and enhance the position of people with disabilities in Victoria through various programs, including the Advocate Guardian Program. This program comprises several teams, including regional advocate guardian teams and the hospital guardianship team.

We are seeking a Team Leader who can contribute to our processes of change and service improvement for people with disability. In this role, you will provide professional leadership, supervision, and support to a team of advocate guardians and guardianship support officers. You will work collaboratively with other Team Leaders to ensure efficient and equitable allocation of matters from VCAT.

As a Team Leader, you will focus on supporting staff to provide person-centred guardianship services. You will liaise with VCAT, operate effectively across multiple service systems, and deal with complex matters, including complaints and enquiries from bodies such as the NDIA, Victorian Ombudsman, and the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Commission. You will also handle hospital matters, including whole-of-state allocation and case conferences with hospital networks.

To be successful in this role, you will need experience in the Victorian human services sector and knowledge of the issues relating to disability, including mental illness and age-related disability. You must also have advanced computer skills to apply complex word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, or database functions.
