Head Chef Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Head Chef to lead our culinary team at Melbourne Airport.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in menu planning and design, with a proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse team of chefs and cooks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive kitchen operations to meet financial targets and support business growth
  • Oversee menu planning and design to ensure consistent delivery of fresh, high-quality food
  • Manage inventory, COGS, labor costs, and profit and loss reporting
  • Recruit, train, and develop team members to ensure culinary team success
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience in a similar role within a restaurant environment
  • Minimum Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
  • Diploma of Hospitality, HACCP Certification, and Australian Culinary Federation qualification preferred
  • Extensive experience in menu planning and design
  • Proven ability to manage, develop, and motivate a diverse team of chefs and cooks
  • A passion for food and creative flair
  • Knowledge of financial and business operations
  • Ability to work a 7-day rotating roster
