About the Role

The Financial Accountant will support Next Gen's finance functions, processing financial transactions timely and accurately, assisting with reconciliations, ensuring record accuracy, and providing crucial support for financial reporting and compliance.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with end-to-end accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including data entry;
  • Support automation of invoice processing to free up capacity in AP;
  • Prepare bank, balance sheet, and other reconciliations;
  • Assist with periodical revenue and expense calculations, including preparation of adjustment schedules for accrued and prepaid expenses and revenue received in advance;
  • Assist with management and statutory accounts preparation;
  • Ensure audit processes compliance with company accounting policies and internal controls and timely preparation of financial documentation;
  • Support budgeting and forecasting process by supplying analysis, assumptions, and phasing, particularly with respect to revenue and expenses;
  • Support payroll functions by providing backup when required and assisting with periodical procedures, including statutory payments;
  • Assist with systems and process improvement/modernisation; and
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting;
  • A minimum two years' experience in a similar position within a consumer services business (advantageous);
  • Proficient knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including AR, AP, and payroll;
  • A sound understanding of Goods & Services Tax (GST) principles;
  • Advanced user skills in Microsoft Excel;
  • Proficient user skills in other Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Word;
  • Proficient user skills in finance software applications (MYOB Exo for business advantageous);
  • Initiative with a 'can-do' and 'hands-on' approach;
  • Satisfaction from high-quality and timely work completion;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to maintaining positive relationships; and
  • A commitment to continuous improvement with a willingness to respectfully challenge the status quo.

Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience
