About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Senior Technical Business Solutions Specialist to join our Agile software development team for the delivery of secure government systems in support of the Department of Defence.

As a Senior Technical Business Solutions Specialist, you will capture and document client requirements to support the delivery of features into software, so web-based software experience and understanding software development principles is essential to be successful in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders to gather, analyse and develop requirements to capture the needs of the client for the web-based software applications, converting requirements into technical solutions
  • Working with the development team to design appropriate solutions
  • Authoring technical system documentation for current and future system requirements
  • Documenting detailed system use cases, workflows, technical rules, user stories and user acceptance criteria with input from users and subject matter experts
  • Analysing existing system functionality
  • Contributing to all Agile software development sprint events
  • Assisting with task decomposition and the estimation of work
  • Assisting with system testing as part of the development process, including performance and functional testing
  • User interface development – generation of user interface (UI) mock-ups
  • Defect investigation, analysis and reporting

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in similar roles
  • Web based software experience – in-depth knowledge and experience developing new software components from inception
  • Proven ability to write technical documentation to support the development and maintenance of software systems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Excellent organisation/prioritisation skills
  • Engineering and/or IT qualifications
  • Australian citizenship
