Innovative Systems Engineer Role at KBR Inc.

About the Position:

KBR Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Innovation Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our National Security Solutions team, you will be responsible for providing high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to our customers in the intelligence and national security communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lab Activity Programmatic Support: Provide technical and programmatic support to the government for all lab activities.
  • Technological Subject Matter Expertise: Provide subject matter expertise to customer leadership on emerging technologies, including AI, and initiatives related to space systems capabilities.
  • Lab Initiatives: Advise customer and enterprise leadership on the efficacy of planned lab initiatives, including cost, schedule, performance, risk, and opportunities.
  • Operational Efficiencies Advisement: Advise customer leadership on operational efficiencies, including systematic and innovative allocation of limited resources.
  • Evaluating Impacts: Represent customer in evaluating impacts to site architecture driven by capability changes and customer decisions; assess innovative concepts and emerging lab capabilities for potential transition onto operational baselines.

Requirements:

  • Cleared for TS/SCI with Polygraph: Must have a current TS/SCI clearance with a Polygraph.
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) or relevant field, and nine (9) years relevant experience; Masters in STEM or relevant field, and seven (7) years relevant experience.
  • Systems Engineering Expertise: At least seven (7) years of hands-on systems engineering experience, including preparation of necessary system engineering artifacts.
  • Project Management Skills: Demonstrated expertise across full systems engineering lifecycle and project management.
  • Communication Skills: Polished communicator with impeccable interpersonal skills and personal judgment; confident presenting analysis and recommendations to all levels of government.
  • Tools and Technologies: Hands-on experience with JIRA, Confluence, and Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access, Project, and Visio.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cybersecurity Expertise: IT and cybersecurity familiarity, including cloud operations, layered defense, and risk.
  • AI and Model Development: Hands-on AI experience, especially model development using large data sets.
  • Cyber Certification: Active cyber certification at DoD 8140 IAT Level 2 (i.e., Security+ CE).
  • Executive Level Support: Experience supporting senior executive level government officials.
