Dairy Cattle Farm Operator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Dairy Cattle Farm Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing procedures such as milking, attending to livestock, haymaking, and fencing.

This is a full-time position that may require weekend or public holiday work and some unplanned hours, which will be paid accordingly.

About the Role:

  • Operate milking plant and equipment;
  • Identify and report equipment not operating normally;
  • Work cooperatively as part of a team;
  • Read and record instrument data, such as milk vat temperatures and cow numbers;
  • Understand safe working principles;
  • Undertake multiple functions to produce quality outcomes, e.g., farm machinery operation;
  • Maintain machinery, undertake adjustments, and size changes;
  • Solve problems and make decisions within guidelines;
  • Assist with processes such as machine repair, artificial insemination, and fertiliser mix design, understanding relevant scientific terminology;
  • Operate standard measuring equipment;
  • Use computerised systems via menu options;
  • Contribute to the team in a specific role, providing input and assisting colleagues;
  • Work independently when required.

Requirements:

  • AQF certificate II or III in Agriculture (or equivalent)
  • At least one (1) year of recent and relevant work experience
