Job Title: Disability Advisor

This role is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the Children's Court by providing expert advice on disability matters.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the challenges faced by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, particularly in relation to disability.

The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Children's Court in identifying when a young Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person has a disability.
  • Enable the presiding judicial officer to be better informed about any forms of disability the client may have.
  • Build rapport and support the young Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander client in completing required screening processes.
  • Provide further referrals of allied health services where required.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as Community Services or Social Work.
  • Demonstrated experience working with young Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.
