Care Manager
At the core of this position lies the responsibility to facilitate safe and meaningful interactions between children in care and their family members. As a Family Contact Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and safety of these children by supervising and supporting family contact visits.
This is an incredibly rewarding role that requires a unique blend of skills and qualities. You must possess empathy, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to manage conflict effectively. Your work will involve interacting with diverse families, so it is essential to be able to adapt and communicate clearly, even in challenging situations.
One of the key aspects of this role is your ability to write clear, detailed reports soon after each visit. This enables our team to track progress, identify areas for improvement, and make informed decisions about future support plans. Additionally, you will work closely with Case Managers to support care plans and ensure that the needs of all parties involved are met.
As a Family Contact Worker, you will also be responsible for identifying and reporting child protection concerns. This involves being vigilant and proactive in recognizing potential risks or issues, and taking prompt action to address them. Your ability to think critically and make sound judgments in high-pressure situations is crucial in this role.
The ideal candidate will hold a Diploma in Community Services (or a related field) and have a valid driver's license, WWCC, First Aid & NDIS clearance. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also essential, as is your ability to work independently and manage conflicting priorities. We welcome applications from individuals who share our commitment to working with diverse families and promoting positive outcomes for children in care.
We celebrate diversity and welcome applications from people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, LGBTI communities, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Our team provides 24/7 incident response support and offers career pathways in Out of Home Care and child protection. We use a pool vehicle for transport during shifts and offer paid training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport and supervise family contact visits autonomously
- Write clear, detailed reports soon after each visit
- Support care plans with Case Managers
- Identify and report child protection concerns
- Manage visits when not in the child's best interest
Requirements:
- Diploma in Community Services (or related field)
- Valid Driver's Licence, WWCC, First Aid & NDI Clearance
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to manage conflict and work with diverse families
- Understanding of child safety and car restraint laws
