Job Description

The role involves annual base salary from $111,643 to $121,045 (HEW Level 7), plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading. It is a full-time, continuing position based at Macquarie University's Wallumattagal Campus in North Ryde.

About the Role
  • Coordinate & Supervise: Oversee day-to-day tasks of Financial Analysts and act as second-in-command when needed.
  • Financial Close Activities: Perform month-end and year-end close activities including preparation and review of complex monthly journals.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Coordinate with stakeholders on queries, processes, and reports.
  • Primary Analysis: Manage primary analysis presentations including salary-related costs and revenue.
  • Process Improvement: Identify, design, and implement process improvements within assigned responsibilities.
  • Policy Support: Ensure finance policies, procedures, and internal controls are applied correctly.
  • Journal Review: Review and approve recurring and standard journals prepared by Financial Analysts.
  • Audit Support: Provide necessary data and information for external audits.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to EEO and WHS regulations.
  • Inter-Company Transactions: Resolve inter-company transactions, prepare elimination trial balances, and create inter-company reports.
  • Supply Chain Accounting: Prepare Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) accruals, understanding the supply chain process, and create journals according to accounting principles.
  • Prosthetics Analysis: Report on prosthetics analysis and calculate appropriate accruals.
  • Systems Improvement: Work closely with Systems/IT to implement process improvement initiatives.

Work in Group Finance, providing a broad range of financial services to support the University's core mission of teaching and research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Day-to-Day Tasks: Oversee daily tasks of Financial Analysts and provide support when needed.
  • Closing Period: Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, preparing and reviewing complex journals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate with stakeholders regarding inquiries, processes, and reports.
  • Presentations: Develop primary analysis presentations covering salaries and revenues.
  • Process Enhancement: Identify, develop, and implement process enhancements within designated areas.
  • Policy Enforcement: Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Journal Verification: Verify and authorize recurring and standard journals generated by Financial Analysts.
  • Supporting Audits: Provide relevant data and information for external audits.
  • Compliance: Comply with EEO and WHS regulations.
  • Transaction Resolution: Resolve inter-company transactions, generate elimination trial balances, and produce inter-company reports.
  • Supply Chain Management: Prepare GRNI accruals, comprehend the supply chain process, and create journals in accordance with accounting principles.
  • Prosthetic Analysis: Generate reports on prosthetic analysis and compute suitable accruals.
  • System Improvement: Collaborate with Systems/IT to implement process improvement initiatives.
