Commercial Underwriting Specialist

Responsible for driving excellence within commercial underwriting, overseeing underwriting activities to maintain market competitiveness, profitability, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee commercial underwriting within AU & NZ and for Global clients, work closely with Sales teams in preparation of the offers to clients, both new deals and renewals.
  • Ensure proper deals pricing, and facilitate and support all APAC deals requiring L6 or higher approvals.
  • Lead large commercial accounts such as banking for AUS and NZ from underwriting perspective.
  • Collaborate with business teams and sales on underwriting activities to enable growth and improved profitability for new deals and renewals.
  • Work closely with Pricing Team to ensure proper performance of tariff-based book, initiate required changes in case of performance deviating from expected one or driven by the market needs.
  • Ensure compliance with Underwriting guidelines and Standard for Underwriting.
  • Remediate accounts identified by Portfolio monitoring team, provide performance data of clients to central portfolio monitoring database.
  • Support planning process to the level of commercial margin projections for the clients' portfolio.
  • Ensure right process of overseeing fulfillment of action points coming from conditional Product Risk Assessment approvals.
  • Ensure alignment and support to Actuarial function, good visibility on the changes within portfolio to ensure proper reserves evaluation.
  • Collaborate with product team on Simplicity product rollout and other future product changes.
  • Drive rollout and usage of digital tools in Underwriting area, like Sales Force, Pricing Tool etc.
  • Collaborate with business teams to plan capacity and drive prioritization that aligns with business strategy.
