Strategic Underwriting Leader

This is a senior leadership position responsible for driving technical excellence and market competitiveness in the Travel and Banking sectors.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in actuarial or financial management, with experience in navigating complex underwriting environments and driving growth through effective collaboration and compliance.

The ideal candidate will possess fluency in English and strong communication skills, with a proven track record of delivering business outcomes.

This role offers an opportunity to impact our footprint in the travel insurance and banking sectors across Australia and New Zealand, while engaging in a global program of work.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage case underwriting within Australia, New Zealand, and for global clients.
  • Collaborate with sales teams for client offers, both new and renewals.
  • E nsure proper pricing and support APAC deals requiring higher-level approvals.
  • Lead underwriting for large accounts, particularly in banking.
  • Enable growth and improved profitability through underwriting activities.
  • Assure compliance with underwriting guidelines and monitor portfolio performance.
  • Support planning processes and commercial margin projections.
  • Oversee fulfillment of action points from risk assessments and ensure proper reserves evaluation.
  • Work with product teams on new product rollouts and changes.
  • Drive the usage of digital tools like Sales Force and Pricing Tool.
  • Collaborate with business teams to align capacity and prioritization with strategy.
