Senior Ecologist/Botanist Role

As a Senior Ecologist/Botanist, you will lead ecological assessments and environmental approvals, contributing to conservation planning. You will provide expert advice on various projects in Victoria.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and lead delivery of ecological survey programs tailored to client needs.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, including ecological impact assessment, vegetation mapping, and offsets advice.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex projects.
  • Provide expert advice on Victorian and Commonwealth biodiversity legislation.
  • Support junior staff in fieldwork, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Liaise with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure project delivery meets client and regulator needs.
  • Prepare project proposals and tender submissions.
  • Assist in the preparation of expert evidence and present it as required.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, regulators, industry bodies, and researchers.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

You will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in botany, ecology, environmental science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in ecological consulting or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Australian ecosystems.
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation and Victorian policy framework.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality reports on time and within budget.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A current and valid driver's license.
  • The right to work in Australia.
