We are seeking a Linux Kernel Engineer to join our team.

Job Description

This role is responsible for the development and maintenance of Ubuntu Linux, focusing on kernel performance, security, and scalability. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating systems, programming languages, and software engineering principles.

  • The successful candidate will work closely with key partners to provide optimal solutions for Silicon and Cloud-based applications.
  • They will be responsible for driving the mitigation of common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs) for Ubuntu Linux, ensuring the operating system remains secure and stable.
  • Additionally, they will architect enhancements to improve kernel performance, correctness, and overall user experience.
  • The engineer will also streamline packaging and distribution of third-party components, ensuring seamless integration and compatibility.
  • Further, they will develop innovative approaches to deliver Ubuntu Linux at scale, meeting the evolving needs of the global enterprise and technology markets.

A strong people manager with natural leadership skills will guide engineers within the team, fostering collaboration and innovation.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • Proven expertise in Linux kernel development or low-level system engineering.
  • Strong understanding of operating systems, programming languages, and software engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git.
  • Experience with build tools, such as Make and Autotools, is highly desirable.
