Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to join our team in Sydney, NSW, Australia. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers to develop and improve configuration deployment systems and pipelines, build automation systems, and systems integration components across a complex and interconnected tool ecosystem.
About the Role:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of engineers to design, implement, and evolve the systems and automation that connect Amazon Web Services to external networks and the greater Internet. You will be responsible for driving continual improvement in systems operations through tool building and iterative updates, defining and driving projects that improve efficiency in day-to-day tasks, and meeting with customers to develop relationships and clarify requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of 6-8 systems development engineers to develop and improve configuration deployment systems and pipelines, build automation systems, and systems integration components
- Drive continual improvement in systems operations through tool building and iterative updates
- Define and drive projects that improve efficiency in day-to-day tasks
- Meet with customers to develop relationships and clarify requirements
- Build and manage a highly technical team, and develop a deep knowledge of your area in order to propose new designs for wider review
Requirements:
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective
Salary: AU$170,000 - AU$220,000 per year, depending on experience.
