About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Network Development Engineer to join our team at Amazon Corporate Services Pty Ltd. As a key member of our Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and operating our global DWDM networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, operate, and rollout our global DWDM networks
  • Drive scaling current DWDM designs to meet the demand of our customers
  • Create processes that help operate and build our DWDM network
  • Work closely with other Networking departments on new designs
  • Ensure that the DWDM network adheres to the defined network standards
  • Review and implement changes on the DWDM network
  • Drive operational excellence projects to drive improvements in our DWDM network quality and reliability
  • Troubleshoot complex problems and develop innovative solutions day to day on our network

You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. We work closely with people across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years' experience with the rollout of large DWDM networks and Optical network technologies
  • 3+ years' experience with optical planning and modelling tools
  • 1+ year of professional development experience with Python or similar tool for network automation scripting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience planning and deploying high capacity DWDM and Optical network systems
  • Good in working on a Linux/Unix environment experience
  • Strong automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
  • Experience in working in a highly available network and highly operationally aware
