Procurement Specialist Job Description

This is a key role in the organization, responsible for ensuring the availability of components and parts needed to fulfill sales and service orders.

The Procurement Specialist will manage vendor relationships and ensure all administration related to purchasing and procurement is correct and timely.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Runs Material Requirements Planning (MRP), places purchase orders, ensures order acknowledgments, and regularly monitors open orders.
  • Manages customer relationships, day-to-day and strategically with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Negotiates and secures supply of competitively priced goods and services.
  • E nsures goods and services are available in stock as required.
  • Resolves vendor disputes, including non-conformances and contingent costs.
  • Performs vendor data administration tasks.
  • Ensures goods and services ordered comply with corporate policies.
  • Assists in the administration of cycle count processes.
  • Promotes ethical purchasing practices in business dealings with vendors.
  • Delivers continuous performance improvement with vendors.
  • Recommends best trading partners for our business.
  • Strives to use SAP effectively.
  • Communicates supply constraints to requesting departments.
  • Monitors quality and service issues with assigned vendors.
  • Conducts performance reviews with assigned vendors.
Health and Safety:

The Procurement Specialist must ensure all duties are carried out in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

Compliance with health and hygiene procedures is also required.

In addition, adherence to safety management systems is necessary.

Other duties may be assigned fairly and reasonably.

Carry out all functions and activities in accordance with our Code of Conduct.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to administer and maintain ERP planning/purchasing system.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to satisfying customer needs.
  • Able to flexibly deal with dynamic circumstances and general change.
  • Advanced Excel competency.
  • Strong communication skills across all levels within our organization and vendor organizations.
  • Able to understand and manage inventory value components within area of influence.
  • Able to work with a small team to develop and maintain planning and purchasing processes.
