Auslan Learning Specialist Position

We are seeking an exceptional Auslan professional to join our community as a specialist in learning and teaching of the Auslan language.

As a key member of our educational team, you will be responsible for modelling best practice in the delivery of Languages Auslan, developing literacy and numeracy skills across the curriculum, and implementing school priorities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Modelling exemplary teaching practices through demonstration lessons and mentoring/coaching colleagues
  • Providing feedback and guidance to improve teaching practices
  • Facilitating professional learning and development opportunities
  • Collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum plans and educational programs

The ideal candidate will possess expertise in high-quality teaching and learning, with a focus on delivering improved achievement, engagement, and wellbeing for students.

Selection criteria include:

  1. Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum, Languages Auslan
  2. Ability to model exemplary teaching practices in Languages Auslan, including the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills across the curriculum, and implement school priorities
  3. Expertise in the implementation and modelling of high-impact teaching strategies that respond to student learning needs in Auslan
  4. Exemplary ability to model the monitoring and assessment of student learning
  5. Ability to support others in using data to inform teaching practice and provide feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents
  6. Interpersonal and communication skills
  7. Ability to engage in collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and the broader community to support student learning, agency, wellbeing, and engagement
  8. Modelled behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values
  9. Support for others to reflect on their practice and facilitate school-based professional learning
