Building Automation Specialist Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Building Automation Specialist to lead our team. As a Building Automation Specialist, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting building automation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership to the HVAC crew, guiding them in their work and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Oversee the execution of HVAC mechanical services, ensuring that all work is performed within cost constraints and meeting project goals.
  • Manage and direct the activities of HVAC mechanics who install, service, and repair environmental-control systems in various commercial establishments.
  • Apply knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout to enhance service quality and efficiency.
  • Evaluate service execution for compliance with contracts, design data, schedules, and quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain short-range look-ahead plans, discussing any deviations with the Superintendent and ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Monitor and control costs and man-hour budgets for the installation process, ensuring alignment with financial constraints and project specifications.
  • Develop a detailed equipment and tool requirement plan, reviewing and adjusting it in consultation with the Superintendent to meet project needs.
  • Ensure clear and effective communication with the project team and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations and address issues promptly.
  • Promote and ensure adherence to safety protocols and standards, minimizing risks and ensuring the safety of all crew members.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A US or Australian citizen.
  • Completion of an undergraduate degree and 5+ years of experience as a Building Automation Specialist managing similar projects.
  • OEM certification in BAS systems, or a similar certification.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team of information and telecommunication management professionals.
  • Ability to maximize technical, performance, and operational efficiencies and minimize lifecycle costs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Clearance: An active US Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph or AUS PV Clearance is required for this role.

This position will be located in Alice Springs at a large facility. This position is expected to be onsite 100%.
