Chief Legal Officer Role Description\

As a senior legal professional, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert counsel and guidance to our leadership team. This position involves overseeing the Department's litigation practice, including child protection applications and briefs to counsel in various proceedings.

  • Provide strategic legal advice and support to senior leaders on high-profile legal and policy issues.\
  • Lead and develop a team of legal services professionals, fostering a high-performance culture that excels at providing continuous professional growth.\
  • Ensure the Department's legal and business services support its functions effectively.\
  • Represent the Department at senior levels on intrastate and interstate committees and other forums as required.\
  • Manage in-house training and development programs for operational staff in the use and application of legal instruments.\
  • Oversee Departmental screening and assessment functions, including criminal record checks and client and child protection checks.
