We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nuclear Safety Specialist to join our team at APS. As an EL2 Director, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective regulation of nuclear-powered submarines and associated facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a high-performing team of nuclear engineers and scientists
  • Apply expertise in nuclear safety and radiation protection principles to inform regulatory decisions
  • Persuade and influence stakeholders to achieve regulatory outcomes
  • Relate and network with internal and external stakeholders to build relationships and advance regulatory goals
  • Cope with pressures and setbacks to ensure effective delivery of regulatory outcomes
Requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of nuclear safety and radiation protection principles
  • Experience working in high-hazard regulated environments
  • Ability to apply scientific, engineering, and behavioural reasoning to nuclear safety and radiation protection regulation and licensing
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
