About the Role

Mipac is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Electrical and Instrumentation Designer to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will play a pivotal role in preparing high-quality electrical, instrumentation, and control drawings for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drawing Preparation: Create and update electrical and control system drawings, including Single Line Diagrams, Schematics, P&ID's, and Panel Arrangements.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct site inspections to gather data and verify existing drawings.
  • Support & Maintenance: Maintain AutoCAD infrastructure and design tool procedures.
  • Training & Audits: Train new starters in MIPAC's AutoCAD and design tool procedures, and conduct regular audits.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with drafters, designers, and engineers to ensure timely project completion that is within budget.
  • Standards Compliance: Ensure consistency and compliance with design standards across Mipac and relevant Australian Standards.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering (or recognized equivalent) with relevant industry experience, or a relevant electrical trade background.
  • Experience: Proven experience as an Electrical/Instrumentation/Control Designer.
  • Skills: Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and design tools like AVEVA Instrumentation.
  • Communication: Strong oral communication skills for effective client and team interaction.
  • Computer Literacy: High level of computer literacy and excellent mathematical skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, quality focus, and ideally an understanding of ISO 9001 principles.
  • Leadership: Previous experience overseeing and reviewing design work of direct reports.
