Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Leading Hand Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Mackay. As a key member of our workshop team, you will be responsible for leading the rebuild of heavy equipment components, including transmissions, torque converters, and final drives.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in heavy diesel mechanics, with experience in component rebuild and a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the rebuild of heavy equipment components, including transmissions, torque converters, and final drives
  • Supervise and mentor junior technicians to ensure high-quality workmanship and efficient workflow
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime
  • Collaborate with the workshop manager to achieve business objectives and improve processes
Requirements
  • Automotive or engineering trade certificate with component rebuild experience on Caterpillar equipment
  • Previous experience in a leading hand or similar role, with a strong background in heavy diesel mechanics
  • Competent computer skills with experience using Caterpillar SIS
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety measures in the workplace
  • Pre-employment medical, DAS, and valid driver's licence and workplace licenses
