Position Overview:

This is a full-time casual role, typically requiring work for up to five days a week, with daily hours generally ranging from 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The position will involve traveling to various sites throughout the greater Brisbane area.

Selection Criteria:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience in bush regeneration with relevant certifications in Horticulture or Conservation and Land Management (preferred).
  • In-depth knowledge of South-East Queensland flora and proficient plant identification skills.
  • Strong understanding of weed identification and effective weed management techniques.
  • Proven ability to work efficiently within a small team, demonstrating initiative and the capability to follow directions without supervision.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License and access to personal transportation (preferably a utility vehicle).
  • Experience with basic hand tools and small engine machinery, such as brush cutters and chainsaws (preferred).
  • Current Herbicide Application License (ACDC) and Chainsaw Certificate (preferred).
  • Valid Construction Safety Card (White Card).
  • Current First Aid Certification.

Performance Goals:

  • Complete all tasks in accordance with specified scopes of work and quality standards.
  • Adhere to field manual protocols, quality assurance, and safety procedures (WHS procedures).
  • Collaborate effectively within a team to meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Engage professionally with clients, suppliers, and colleagues at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage weeds through mechanical and herbicide methods.
  • Operate and maintain power tools (e.g., chainsaws, brush cutters, hedgers, augers).
  • Apply herbicides as required.
  • Conduct planting activities, including site preparation, cultivation, and watering.
  • Implement erosion control measures, including site preparation and installation of geofabrics.
  • Perform general site maintenance tasks, including weed control and watering.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to workplace health and safety policies.
  • Occasionally assist with soft landscaping duties, such as constructing and maintaining garden beds in bushland or natural areas.
  • Complete other tasks as directed.
  • Support community volunteer planting initiatives and activities.
