Rust Engineering Expert Wanted

We are seeking an exceptional Rust engineer to drive the adoption of this exciting language into our offerings, including Ubuntu and open source projects.

As a Rust Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing and implementing well-tested and well-documented software in Rust
  • Advocating for Rust adoption in Canonical and upstream projects
  • Identifying projects and codebases that could be prioritized for Rust adoption
  • Debugging and fixing issues encountered by users
  • Participating in engineering processes through code and architectural reviews
  • Collaborating with community and colleagues on technical specifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exceptional academic track records from high school and university
  • Undergraduate degrees in Computer Science or related fields, or compelling narratives about alternative paths
  • Experience designing and writing high-quality Rust software on Linux
  • Professional written and spoken English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
