
Mobility Specialist

This role focuses on assessing and developing individual/group physical therapy treatments to promote mobility, reduce pain, restore function, prevent permanent disability, and restore independence.
- The ideal candidate will have 3 years' experience as a licensed Physical Therapist and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, analytical abilities, and clinical competence.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of in and outpatients with physical and functional deficits.
- Develop and implement individual/group physical therapy treatments to promote mobility, reduce pain, restore function, prevent permanent disability, and restore independence.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to arrange for appropriate follow-up care and facilitate a successful return to home and work environments.
- Provide student training according to departmental guidelines and participate in continuous education.
- Respond to all consults within 24 hours, complete evaluation and documentation within 24 hours, and review patient records to gather necessary information.
- Select evaluation procedures that reflect understanding of the patient's diagnosis, abilities, and limitations, and adapt them as indicated to accommodate specific patient needs.
- Educate patients and caregivers regarding evaluation findings and management of care recommendations.
- Establish treatment goals and plans that reflect patient needs, meet departmental requirements, and are measurable and attainable.
- Modify goals as warranted by changes in patient status, assess discharge needs, and communicate patient care and discharge needs to team members.
- Implement comprehensive individual and group treatment, consistently demonstrating clinical competence and using creative treatment approaches.
- Progress patient treatment programs appropriately, terminate them as warranted, and recommend assistive devices or durable medical equipment as needed.
- Develop and instruct patient and caregiver in home programs and/or use of recommended equipment, establish therapeutic relationships, and engage patients in treatment.
- Monitor clinical supplies, request replacements in a timely manner, and comply with departmental, institutional, and accrediting agency policies and standards.
- Complete area-specific documentation accurately and thoroughly, issue supplies/adaptive equipment cost-effectively, and meet productivity standards at least 95% of the time.
- Participate in peer review, complete mandatory requirements, show evidence of ongoing professional growth, and stay current with advances in physical therapy treatments and techniques.
- Bachelor's / Master's / Doctorate or equivalent in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution; Doctorate degree preferred.
- Current Commonwealth of Massachusetts license.
- APTA and MCAPTA membership preferred.
- Current CPR certification.
- 1 year experience at Boston Medical Center.
