We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our communications group, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective communication strategies that engage and inform our community.

About the Role

The Communications Specialist will provide strategic media liaison and develop successful communication plans to deliver quality and meaningful communications to the community. You will write media releases, create other communication materials, plan and deliver internal communications, and implement high-quality communication activities for Council projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies that meet organisational objectives.
  • Write engaging media releases and communication materials including newsletter content, social media posts, and printed collateral.
  • Plan and deliver internal communications to support employee engagement and organisational goals.
  • Implement high-quality communication activities and plans for Council projects that enhance corporate brand.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Degree qualifications in communications, journalism, or marketing.
  • A minimum of three to four years' experience in a similar role, including experience in planning and implementing strategic communications plans.
  • Strong writing and copy-editing skills and experience using a range of social media platforms.
  • Experience partnering with internal stakeholders and managing multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • A current Driver's Licence is required.
  • An understanding of online communication and website management, as well as a working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and InDesign are highly desirable.
