About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mechanical Fitter to join our client's engineering workshop team as a Second-in-Charge. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling and testing a range of pump systems, as well as supporting the workshop supervisor in managing daily operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assembly and Testing: Assemble pump components according to technical specifications and drawings, and perform testing to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Troubleshooting and Quality Control: Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with pump systems during assembly and testing, and ensure all pumps meet our client's high standards of performance and reliability.
  • Workshop Management: Assist the workshop supervisor in managing workflow and prioritizing tasks, and provide guidance and support to junior team members.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Manage the Assembly team in the Team Leader's absence, and provide leadership and guidance to team members.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or in a similar role, with a strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of pump systems.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, proficiency with hand and power tools, and manual machining experience would be an advantage.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, good communication and teamwork abilities, and leadership experience or potential to lead a team.
