The Transmission Technical Director Role

The Transmission Technical Director will play a key role in driving revenue generation, developing market strategy, and ensuring successful project delivery. They will take the lead on partnering strategies and collaborate closely with the practice supply chain.

This involves working closely with AtkinsRéalis global market leads, especially those in Canada and the GTC. Additionally, they will oversee the project delivery support function, providing day-to-day process and project management.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop trusted relationships with T&D clients as the first point of contact.
  • Drive best practice and professional leading-edge approaches to Health and Safety and CDM in the T&D market.
  • Contribute to overall market strategy and execution of the annual business plan.
  • Identify and manage portfolio risks, escalating key decisions to CEO when necessary.
  • Oversee performance of Project Managers and Project Directors where applicable.
  • Achieve market revenue, profit, and practice demand within agreed budgets.
  • Implement project reviews based on risk.
  • Lead business development and bidding to create a sustainable pipeline of work.
  • Own market proposition and thought leadership with Win Work teams.
  • Provide leadership, management, and engineering/technical guidance to the T&D team and its staff.
  • Ensure Bid processes follow AtkinsRéalis processes, including Service Delivery Process and other governance.
  • Manage financial performance of projects, including P&L accountability.
  • Direct staff recruitment, resourcing, and development initiatives.
  • Assess market and innovate services and technical approaches to build a robust market-facing organisation.

Requirements and Skills

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, team-working, and influencing skills.
  • Experience leading high-performing teams and building trust, influence, and motivation.
  • Highly experienced in financial and commercial management for large, complex portfolios of projects.
  • Successful negotiation and dispute resolution experience.
  • Experience developing and winning bids and their governance.
  • Contractual, commercial, and project delivery knowledge, including large, complex, and firm price projects.
  • Well-rounded leadership and management background with demonstrable project portfolio management experience.
  • Ability to lead and support diverse bid and project delivery teams.
  • Numerical acumen and ability to combine experience and instinct with logic and detail awareness.
  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent and relevant professional accreditations.

About the Salary

The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
