Weir Comminution Technician Opportunity

Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per annum.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Comminution Technician to join our team in Perth. As a key member of our service team, you will be responsible for carrying out repairs and maintenance on Weir HPGR, screens, and cone crusher equipment at customer sites and in our workshop.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in mechanical engineering or a related field and excellent technical knowledge of heavy specialized equipment such as high-pressure grinding rolls, hydraulic, and rotating equipment. You will also possess strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients and internal stakeholders to deliver exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety First: Demonstrate unwavering commitment to our zero harm behaviors, supporting the development of a world-class safety culture.
  • Work closely with the HPGR team to establish and implement sustainable growth strategies for the allocated HPGR business unit.
  • Provide exceptional service and customer support while onsite.
  • Manage all onsite maintenance, repair, fault finding, and test tasks as per scopes of work provided.
  • Recommend improvements to reduce customers' total cost of ownership (TOC).
  • Develop strong relationships with key customers to ensure their expectations are met and remedial action is taken to address issues.
  • Exhibit a collaborative approach to prioritize and satisfy customer needs, meeting set service levels.
  • Provide technical advice to the Site Service Supervisor for service and components for contracts.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance is conducted to eliminate or reduce plant downtime.
  • Liaise with Area Managers to ensure timely and cost-effective installation and commissioning activities for all works.
  • Show flexibility under urgent or breakdown conditions to service customer requirements.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3–4 years relevant technical/trade experience (Minimum Cert III in Mechanical Engineering)
  • Experience working on heavy specialized equipment such as high-pressure grinding rolls, hydraulic, and rotating equipment is highly preferred.
  • Hydraulic knowledge is desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical drawings, safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Be available for a combination of workshop and field work.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office (Excel and Word) skills.
