Lead Environmental Planner or Scientist

Umwelt, a leading environmental consultancy, is seeking a highly experienced Lead Environmental Planner or Scientist to oversee and manage environmental impact assessments and planning projects for major infrastructure in the energy sector.

With over three decades of experience and eight locations nationwide, Umwelt is a team of vibrant professionals with expertise across various sectors, including renewables, infrastructure, defence, regulation, and policy.

About the Role
  • Develop and implement environmental management plans to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and manage environmental impact assessments and planning projects for major infrastructure in the energy sector.
  • Collaborate with clients to provide expert advice on complex environmental assessments and approval processes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Scope, plan, manage, and execute environmental assessment and management projects.
  • Team Empowerment: Lead and mentor project teams to achieve exceptional project results.
  • Project Management: Effectively manage project budgets, timelines, and resources.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain a focus on delivering high-quality project outcomes.
  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong client relationships.
About You
  • Qualifications in environmental science, planning, or related degree discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in environmental impact assessment or environmental planning.
  • Substantial experience in a consulting environment.
  • Experience leading or working on Environment Effects Statements and/or Ministerial planning permit applications.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental and planning legislation, regulations, standards, and best practices.
