Category Development Manager Position

Avolta seeks a strategic and results-driven Category Development Manager to enhance commercial performance in our Duty Free operations at Perth International Airport.

This is an opportunity to drive category growth through effective supplier relationships, promotional planning, and margin optimization. The position will play a pivotal role in achieving business objectives by collaborating closely with Marketing, Retail Operations, Supply Chain, and Global & Regional Commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate sourcing activities for local suppliers across the cluster.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and agreements with local vendors, ensuring alignment with global procurement strategies.
  • Manage vendor relationships, resolve issues, and follow up on open topics.
  • Initiate and negotiate new projects with local suppliers in collaboration with global procurement.
  • Develop and implement local sourcing strategies aligned with global category direction.
  • Prepare negotiation strategies and supporting documentation for supplier discussions.
  • Plan and execute stock depletion and liquidation programs for discontinued items.
  • Coordinate promotions with Marketing and Retail Operations.
  • Input promotions into A&P tools and ensure timely go-live with product managers.
  • Support shop layout and planogram development for local products.
  • Monitor and analyze sales, margins, inventory levels, and supplier performance.
  • Track promotional effectiveness and ensure compliance with margin policies.
  • Provide category insights to airport authorities and other local stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or commercial roles, preferably in retail or FMCG.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or Marketing.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with experience in margin and performance tracking.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities across cross-functional teams.
