Deputy Director Professional Services

The Maritime Safety Bureau (MSB) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director Professional Services to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing expert policy advice and leading complex projects that impact strategic, political, or operational outcomes for Defence.
You will have a strong background in Defence or Military experience, with a proven track record of leading integrated teams and managing key stakeholder relationships. Your expertise in environmental and safety services, occupational hygiene, and maritime environmental management will be essential in delivering bureau services for Communication, Occupational Hygiene, and Maritime Environmental Management.
This is a Sydney-based role, and you will be required to work from Fleet Headquarters located on Wylde Street Potts Point. You will be responsible for managing a team of up to 12 Australian Public Servants and Royal Australian Navy personnel, and experience leading an integrated team would be an advantage.
About Our TeamThe Maritime Safety Bureau (MSB) is a small dynamic team of professional, qualified personnel. Our mission is to be the centre of excellence for professional, environmental, and safety services to the Fleet. We undertake surveillance and oversight activities to inform timely intervention of issues that could impact capability.
We are a direct liaison authority, proactive in the application of human and financial resources to resolve safety and environmental management issues for Units within Fleet Command. MSB is the centre of excellence for the provision and delivery of professional environmental and safety services in a timely manner to the Fleet Commander and all Fleet Command elements and units.
About the Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will have a strong background in Defence or Military experience, with a proven track record of leading integrated teams and managing key stakeholder relationships. You will have expertise in environmental and safety services, occupational hygiene, and maritime environmental management, and be able to deliver bureau services for Communication, Occupational Hygiene, and Maritime Environmental Management.
You will be a strong communicator, with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills. You will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of autonomy and a strong sense of initiative.
