Deputy Director of Professional Services

The Deputy Director of Professional Services is a key position within the Maritime Safety Bureau (MSB), responsible for leading a high-performing team in delivering professional, environmental, and safety services to the Fleet. This role requires a strong understanding of compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making, and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert policy advice and exercise sound decision-making and judgement to solve complex to very complex problems and sensitive issues management.
- Coordinate and perform projects that impact on strategic, political, or operational outcomes for Defence, actively managing key stakeholder relationships to identify expectations and concerns.
- Contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development of their work area, exercising people management skills and knowledge to lead a cohesive team.
The MSB is a dynamic team of professional, qualified personnel, committed to being the centre of excellence for professional, environmental, and safety services to the Fleet. Our mission is to provide timely intervention of issues that could impact capability, and we are proactive in the application of human and financial resources to resolve safety and environmental management issues.
Requirements- Essential qualifications and previous Defence/Military experience.
- Experience leading an integrated team, with the ability to manage a team of up to 12 Australian Public Servants and Royal Australian Navy personnel.
- Extensive experience in at least two of the three deliverables: Communication, Occupational Hygiene, and Maritime Environmental Management.
