Job Summary

The Compliance Risk Manager will protect the organisation from financial crime risks by managing key Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) processes, collaborating with business stakeholders and contributing to policy development.

Main Responsibilities
  • Perform Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Screen for sanctions, Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), and adverse media to mitigate risk
  • Monitor transactions and escalate unusual activity as required to prevent financial crimes
  • Support remediation projects and track follow-up actions to maintain compliance
  • Collaborate with Sales, Credit, and Compliance teams on financial crime matters to achieve organisational objectives
  • Assist in policy and procedure development, as well as system implementation to enhance AML/CTF capabilities
  • Conduct Quality Assurance reviews aligned with First Line of Defence (1LoD) principles to ensure effectiveness
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert guidance on AML/CTF regulations and emerging risks to inform business decisions
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 3+ years' experience in financial crime compliance (AML/CTF focus preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of AML/CTF regulations across Australia and New Zealand
  • Expertise in CDD/EDD, transaction monitoring, and reporting obligations to manage risk effectively
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail to maintain accurate records
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders
  • Banking or financial services background (preferred) with a solid understanding of industry best practices
  • Degree qualification (advantageous) with relevant courses in finance, law, or a related field
